6 Hidden Gem Games You Should Absolutely Check Out
Let’s be honest: there are way too many games out there, and not nearly enough time to play them all. The big hitters get all the love, but what about the games that quietly slap? On this week’s Good Playing With You, we highlighted 6 hidden gems that deserve way more attention than they’ve gotten.
Here’s what we’re loving, and why you should give them a shot:
1. The Forever Winter
Just another day on Twitter…
A grimdark, futuristic extraction shooter that feels like Warhammer 40K meets Escape from Tarkov…but faster. You can get in and out in just 5 minutes or stay longer if you want, and it doesn't force you to camp maps forever. We love that flexibility. If you’ve got a PC and friends to squad up with, this one’s worth a drop.
2. Ring Fit Adventure
The ball said HOLD goddamit!
Yeah, we know. It looks like another fitness gimmick, but it’s secretly a legit RPG. With potions, powers, a growing skill tree, and surprisingly deep level design, Ring Fit Adventure is like if Final Fantasy made you do squats. We've been playing since 2020 and are still shocked by how much content Nintendo keeps packing in. Don’t sleep on it.
3. Disciples: Liberation
Golem? I don’t even know him.
If you ever played Might & Magic back in the day, this tactical RPG will hit all the right notes. Gather troops, build your city, conquer enemies in strategic hex battles, and use special powers to dominate. One of us stumbled across this on Xbox randomly and now we’re telling everyone. Pure strategy goodness.
4. Darkwood
Hehe. DarkWOOD.
A top-down horror game that will mess with your head. We didn’t expect to be scared…and then we were. It’s creepy, mysterious, and constantly keeps you uneasy. The atmosphere is thick, the scares are smart, and the art direction is unforgettable. If you like horror with brains (and chills), this is a must-play.
5. Days Gone
First day of the Switch 2 launch at GameStop
Sure, it launched buggy. And yeah, it’s still got a few rough edges. But this open-world zombie survival game packs a shockingly good story, satisfying combat, and now includes a horde mode on PS5. One of us already sank 82 hours into it and is ready to sink 82 more. And for just $10 on upgrade? That’s a steal.
6. Bulletstorm
Get over here!
This FPS turns murder into an art form. You're rewarded for how creatively you kill not just whether you win. Kick enemies into spikes? Bonus points. Launch them off cliffs? Bonus points. It’s frantic, absurd, and endlessly fun. The scoring system makes every fight feel like a playground of chaos. Totally underappreciated.
